Anti-Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy Statement

Anti-Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy Statement

Introduction

Learning Spot Ltd, trading as The Builders Academy, is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and services. This statement, pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, outlines the steps taken to mitigate these risks for the financial year ending 31 July 2017.

Due Diligence

To identify and mitigate modern slavery risks, we adopt due diligence processes proportional to identified risks. These processes are subject to ongoing review and assessment.

Key Areas of Risk

  • Supply Chains: IT equipment, uniforms, outsourced cleaning, and security services.
  • Recruitment Agencies: For temporary staff.

Supply Chains

  • We require suppliers to comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
  • Suppliers failing to meet our standards will be removed from our list and not considered for future supply unless compliance is demonstrated.
  • We will review the feasibility of additional due diligence processes for high-risk areas.

Training

We provide training to staff responsible for recruitment, procurement, and contract management to ensure an understanding of modern slavery risks. Business partners are also required to train their staff.

Recruitment Practices

  • Temporary staff and indirect recruits are sourced through reputable agencies.
  • We conduct checks on agencies before approval and ensure they perform all relevant pre-recruitment checks.

Company Policies

We implement policies to prevent and address modern slavery:

  • Grievance and Whistleblowing Policies: Allow concerns to be raised without fear of retaliation.
  • Employee Code of Conduct: Sets out expected behavior and ethical standards.
  • Anti-bribery and Corruption Policy: Zero tolerance for bribery and corruption.
  • Procurement Policy: Ensures ethical conduct in business relationships.
  • Recruitment Policy: Ensures transparent recruitment processes and compliance with statutory requirements.

Performance Indicators

  • We aim to introduce KPIs to measure progress in reducing modern slavery risks.
  • KPIs may include the use of grievance and whistleblowing procedures and assessment of third-party suppliers.

Training and Awareness

This statement will be made available to staff, stakeholders, and the public. We will raise awareness of modern slavery risks through induction processes and targeted training for relevant staff groups.
