EUSR is Energy & Utility Skills Register, the register of training and skills for the utilities sector. Anyone entering a clean water site or working on the clean water network, including water company staff, contractors, subcontractors and self-lay organisations. Water companies require it before you start.

About three hours, online and at your own pace. It ends with a 25 question, 30 minute test with instant results, and a free retake is included.

Three years. To renew, you take the training and test again. Every registration comes with a virtual card, and you can add a printed card.

Anyone who carries out legionella controls, such as temperature checks, flushing or cleaning, plus the people who manage them: maintenance staff, caretakers, facilities managers, plumbers and landlords who look after their own properties. HSE expects them to be properly trained, with refresher training and records kept.

No. The Blue Card is for work on the clean water network. Legionella awareness is about controlling legionella in the hot and cold water systems of buildings. Many maintenance teams need both.

Not on its own. HSE describes the responsible person as someone with sufficient authority, competence, skills, knowledge of the system and experience. Awareness training is the right starting point, and the level most staff need.
