The Builders Academy and SpectreConnect Unite to Support Care Leavers Through the Care Leavers Covenant

Together, we’re committed to opening new doors for care leavers by offering fully guided, all-inclusive training pathways into construction.

Why Supporting Care Leavers Matters

Each year, thousands of young people leave the care system in the UK, often without the same support networks or life chances their peers may have. This can make the transition into adulthood and employment especially challenging. The Care Leavers Covenant exists to bridge that gap — helping care-experienced individuals move forward with confidence, independence, and access to real opportunities.

For many care leavers, getting a foot in the door to stable, skilled employment can be life-changing. That’s where The Builders Academy and SpectreConnect step in.

Empowering Young People Through Construction Training

Construction is one of the UK’s most in-demand and rewarding sectors. It’s also an industry with room for everyone — from bricklaying and groundwork to site management and health & safety roles. But the first step is getting qualified.

We’ve made that step simple and fully accessible. Through this new partnership, care leavers affiliated with SpectreConnect’s network of member organisations will now be able to access The Builders Academy’s all-inclusive CSCS Card training package — a gateway into the construction workforce.

Our CSCS Green Card Full Package includes:

• Accredited Health and Safety in a Construction Environment qualification

• CSCS test booking and preparation

• Full card application support

• Revision materials

• Ongoing learner guidance and support

All of this can be completed 100% online, making it ideal for young adults who may not have the flexibility to attend in-person classes or who need to work at their own pace.

Additional Courses to Build Skills and Confidence

In addition to the CSCS package, learners will also have access to a suite of practical, certification-based courses that improve employability and build confidence:

• Fire Marshal & Fire Extinguisher

• Asbestos Awareness

• Traffic Marshal / Banksman

• Emergency First Aid at Work / Full First Aid at Work

• Working at Height

• Manual Handling

• Health & Safety in the Workplace

• Slips, Trips and Falls
