Purpose
The Builders Academy aims to protect, respond, and report any concerns on our premises or associated locations for anyone receiving training or services from our staff.
Scope
This policy applies to all staff, young people, adults, and apprentices associated with The Builders Academy. We are committed to ensuring equal opportunities, fairness, dignity, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination in the workplace and learning environment.
Our Commitment

Core Responsibilities
- Centre Manager: Ensure staff understand and comply with equality and diversity policies.
- Management Team: Monitor equality and diversity data, propose actions, and ensure training is provided.
- All Staff: Comply with policies and promote equality and diversity.
Implementation
- Training: Induction and ongoing training on equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Monitoring: Regularly review statistical data and assess the impact on equality and diversity.
- Support: Provide additional support for staff, apprentices, and learners with disabilities or special needs.
Quality Assurance
- Monitoring: Monitor policy implementation through board meetings, statistical analysis, and self-assessment processes.
- Training and Development: Ensure all staff, apprentices, and learners receive appropriate training and development opportunities.
Supporting Diversity
- Individual Recognition: Treat all staff, apprentices, and learners as individuals.
- Flexible Opportunities: Offer full or part-time roles and support working from home where possible.
- Inclusive Communication: Use various communication methods to ensure messages are conveyed accurately.
Reporting and Complaints
- Reporting Discrimination: Use the grievance procedure to report discriminatory conduct.
- No Retaliation: Individuals raising genuine complaints will not be penalized.
- Disciplinary Action: Harassment or discrimination may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal.
