Who this refresher is for
For anyone who already holds a SMSTS certificate and needs to keep it current. Your existing certificate must still be valid when you book.
What it covers
An update on current health and safety law, recent changes to best practice, and a review of the core topics from the full course.
Important: book before your certificate expires
If your certificate has already expired, you'll normally need to take the full SMSTS course again. We recommend booking at least a month before your expiry date.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as an NVQ?
No. SMSTS Refresher is a short CITB Site Safety Plus course. It's often needed alongside an NVQ, but it doesn't replace one for a CSCS card.
Can I take it online?
Yes. You can attend in a classroom or join a live virtual classroom with a tutor. You must attend every session in full.
How long is the certificate valid?
Five years. Take the refresher before it expires to keep it current.
